Big Boy Lineman Bash June 24
The Big Boy Bash Hawaii (BBB Hawaii) will be held on Saturday, June 24, at the Old Airport field (Old A’s behind the gym) in Kona for offensive and defensive linemen, ages 12 and up.
It’s a day of competing and having fun building relationships.
The event is targeted for older Pop Warner, freshmen, junior varsity and varsity linemen only.
The Big Boy Bash Hawaii Lineman Competition is a free event—OL (pass protection) vs. DL (pass rush). It’s a competition, not training sessions, but demonstrations and coaching will take place during the event.
“This event gives the communities a way to show how much they care and encourage our Big Boys,” said Coach Nick Romo. “OL/DL get no love. We have seven-on-seven but nothing for linemen, so this is the first linemen competition on the Big Island. I want this to continue to be a free annual event.”
The coach said the goal of for the competition is to encourage players and send a positive message—strive to be a student-athlete of good character, exemplify good sportsmanship and play with integrity.
“We want to develop and encourage lineman to pursue an education, using football as a venue, as well as teach them about their responsibility of being productive citizens and servants of our community,” said Coach Romo.
