Kaiser Permanente Ranks First for Cancer Screenings

Kaiser Permanente ranked first in the state in 18 measures of quality care, including breast and colorectal cancer screenings and six measures of comprehensive diabetes care by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

The rankings were announced in the 2016 NCQA Medicare Quality Compass report, which assesses the performance of more than 300 Medicare health plans throughout the nation in 30 measures of effectiveness of care.

Additionally, Kaiser Permanente received top marks in Hawai‘i for adult BMI assessment, osteoporosis management in women with previous fractures, and follow-up after hospitalization for mental illness.

The Hawai‘i region was named No. 1 in the nation in two measures: controlling high blood pressure, and treating rheumatoid arthritis with disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug therapy.

The Quality Compass Medicare report is the last in a string of recognitions from NCQA in 2016.

Last month, NCQA’s Quality Compass report for commercial plans recognized Kaiser Permanente Hawai‘i for leading the nation in six measures of care, and No. 1 in Hawai‘i in 34 of 48 measures of care.

Earlier in the year, Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare and Medicaid plans received the highest ratings in the state in NCQA’s annual Health Insurance Plan Ratings report.
