Kona Man Charged with Assault, Attempted Murder
Hawai‘i Island Police responded to a report of an unknown type of disturbance near a service station in the 75-900 block of Henry Street in Kailua-Kona on Friday, Oct. 28,
Responding officers located an unconscious man with injuries to his head. The 39-year-old man was transported to the Kona Community Hospital by ambulance and later medevaced to a hospital on O‘ahu for further treatment. He is in critical condition.
Investigation led to the identity of a suspect, 34-year-old Anthony Graham Beaudet-Close of Kailua-Kona. He was arrested Sunday morning, Nov. 6, on suspicion of assault after turning himself in at the Kealakehe Police Station. He was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.
At 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, he was charged with assault in the first degree and attempted murder. His bail was set at $150,000. He is being held at the Kona cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 9.
