Looking Ahead
Flood advisories have been posted for the Hilo side through the night and into early this morning. High moisture and unstable conditions mean the unsettled weather pattern will continue today, with the potential for locally heavy rainfall on Maui and the Big Island. A drier and more stable trade wind weather regime is expected to gradually become established across the Aloha State by late Thursday, and will continue into early next week. A disturbance forecast to pass south of the islands early next week could boost trade wind speeds.
Today
Mostly cloudy with windward showers likely. Mostly clear in the morning for the Kona side with partly cloudy skies and scattered showers in the afternoon. A slight chance of thunderstorms exists for the afternoon and evening. Locally heavy rainfall is possible and hazy skies are expected. High temperatures from 82° to 87°. Winds will be east around 15 mph.
UV index at 9 (“very high” exposure level)
Tonight
Winds will be variable around 5 to 15 mph. Mostly cloudy with windward showers likely. Kona side should be mostly cloudy to start with clearing as the night goes on. Low temperatures from 73° to 78°.
