Dance Collective Concert at Performing Arts Center

Choreographers and dancers throughout the Hilo community will share center stage when the Dance Collective Concert debuts on Friday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo’s Performing Arts Center.

envisions the concert as an opportunity for local dancers to grow and develop by exposing them to many different talents.

“There are so many talented individuals who care a great deal about dance and are always looking for opportunities to share and present their work,” said Yamada. “My hope is that this experience will act as a stepping stone to create bridges between all the dance entities, not only in Hilo, but all over.”

The show will feature young and upcoming choreographers and dancers as well as established performers from dance groups, including Center Stage Dance Alliance, Island Dance Academy, N2
Dance and the UH Hilo Dance Department.

“I am participating in this show because I value its intention to bring local choreographers, dancers and artists together for an event that promotes what we all hold so dear to our hearts… dance!” said Nadia Schlosser, a beloved and respected choreographer and the creative director/owner of the newly-formed Paradise Performing Arts Center.

“It’s going to be a good show,” said Lawrence Mano, another long-time dancer and burgeoning choreographer. “I think it will be a positive experience that will show off the talent that Hilo has to offer.”

Tickets are open seating and priced at $20 general and $10 UH Hilo/Hawai’i CC students (with a valid student ID) and children up to age 17.
