Public Input Sought for Papahānaumokuākea Expansion
At the
invitation of US Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Fish and Wildlife Service will gather comments on Sen. Schatz’s proposal to expand the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.
Written comments will be accepted in person on Aug. 1 and 2 at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center, located at 76 Kamehameha Ave. in Hilo.
“It’s really important for people to have an opportunity to be heard,” said Sen. Schatz. “I am grateful to President Obama and his administration for accepting my invitation to hear directly from Hawai‘i residents before making any decisions.”
