Missing Extended Furlough Inmate Turns Himself In
Michael Joyce, a missing extended furlough inmate, has turned himself in.
Joyce was returned to the Hawai’i Community Correctional Center at 2:20 a.m. after he turned himself in to the Hawai’i Police Department Monday night.
He was scheduled for an April 6 check-in, but failed to return to HCCC.
The Department of Public Safety says that Joyce is serving time for Assault 2, and is classified as a community custody. The custody status is the lowest level.
Escape 2 is expected to be added to Joyce’s charges. His next parole hearing was scheduled for June.
Extended furlough inmates live and work outside of the facility, but are required to check-in at various times throughout the month.
