Hawai’i Songwriting Festival Gathers Top Industry Writers
It’s nearing that time of the year again when the writers of some of the popular tunes in America gather for the annual Hawai’i Songwriting Festival at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.
The three-day festival will kick off on June 16 and include two concerts open to the community.
Attendees of the festival will spend three days networking with song writers and working one-on-one with some of the top names in song writing, including the authors of hit songs made popular by the Plain White T’s, Will.i.Am, Tim McGraw, Whitney Houston, Taylor Swift, Jimmy Buffett, Bonnie Raitt, Colbie Caillat, Etta James, Christina Aguilera, George Strait, Meghan Trainor, LeAnn Rimes, The Fray, Trisha Yearwood, Train, Britney Spears, The Gipsy Kings, Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, Garth Brooks, Carole King, Ringo Starr, Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Ricky Martin, Kelly Clarkson, Joe Cocker, Heart, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson, Kip Moore, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Daughtry, Chris Young, Florida Georgia Line, Chicago, Backstreet Boys, Rascal Flatts, and Nickel Creek.
Songwriters and music supervisors for film and television, as well as music publishers and music producers, will be in attendance working with festival goers. Activities range from small workshops and panel discussions to open mic performances and speed mentoring sessions.
On June 17, “Island Night” will feature a public concert at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel’s Ballroom. The 7 p.m. show will feature Raiatea Helm, Paula Fuga, Nathan Aweau, and Streetlight Cadence.
The following evening, the “Hit Makers” concert will feature a roster of songwriters who will perform their own original work. This concert will also be open to the public and played within the hotel’s ballroom.
