Walmart employees should notice an increase on their paychecks beginning March 10.

Officials announced Monday that a total of 3,800 Walmart employees across the state will soon receive a pay raise.

In total 1.2 million Walmart and Sam’s Club associates in the U.S. will receive pay increases, part of a larger $2.7 billion investment for higher pay, better training, clearer career paths, and educational opportunities over a two-year span.

Hawai’i Walmart officials say that associates are also eligible for quarterly cash bonuses that are based on store performance.

“Receiving the increase is a great thing,” said John Bingaman, Department Manager for Health & Beauty Aids at the Honolulu Walmart on Keeamoku St. “I’ll be able to put more into my 401K and stock benefits that Walmart provides.”

Beyond higher wages and benefits, Walmart officials say the associate investment is designed to provide associates with the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to grow with the company and provide customer service.
