Big Island Film Festival to Screen Two Award-Winning Films

It’s not quite time for the Big Island Film Festival, however, two award winning films are slated for the big screen at Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu on Saturday, Jan. 30.

The Big Island Film Festival will screen the short film, “Our Father” and the feature film “Honeyglue” at 7 p.m.

“Our Father” tells the story of an aging father who is estranged from his family and is suffering from late stage dementia. He reveals to his sons secrets that start the process of healing a broken family. Michael Gross stars in the film. Gross is known as “Burt” in the “Tremors” movies, and has gained worldwide recognition as Michael J. Fox’s father from “Family Ties.”

The film is considered R-rated and has a run time of 30 minutes.

“Honeyglue” is an Audience Choice Feature winner at the 2015 Big Island Film Festival at the Fairmont Orchid. In addition, the film has won awards at various film festivals, including Cannes World Cinema Initiative Best Feature.

Love that steps out of all boundaries is the story “Honeyglue” tells. Morgan, a protected young woman with terminal cancer, and Jordan a gender-defying adventurer, make every second of the only three months they have last.

The film is rated PG-13.

Tickets will be available at the door and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.
