Suspect Charged in Double Sex Assault Case
The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Juvenile Aid Section reports that Hawaiʻi Island police have charged a Big Island man with 27 offenses in connection with a double sexual assault Tuesday, Dec. 22, in the Piʻihonua area.
At 10:15 p.m. Thursday Dec. 24, 36-year-old Oran Charles Kita, who has no permanent address, was charged with 15 counts of first-degree sexual assault, seven counts of third-degree sexual assault, two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, two counts of kidnapping and one count of promoting a detrimental drug.
His bail was set at $891,000. He is expected to appear in court on those offenses Monday, Dec.28.
He is being held at Hawaiʻi Community Correctional Center after going to court earlier Thursday for his first appearance on a Grand Jury indictment for first-degree promotion of marijuana and other charges related to a 2011 search warrant at his former residence in Hawaiian Paradise Park.
Police are still investigating another first-degree sexual assault that was reported in 2011.
