Swell Fades Today, Large Swell Tomorrow

A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all island waters through 6 a.m. Monday for east winds up to 25 knots and seas up to 12 feet.

A High Surf Advisory is posted for the north exposures of the Big Island through 6 a.m. Monday for wave heights of 10 to 15 foot faces.

Hilo side: Wave heights are expected well overhead today with double overhead sets from time to time.

Kona side: Wave heights waist/tummy high today from the northwest wrap. Waves under waist high from the south-southwest.

South: Breaks open to the trade swell could get up to waist/head high. Otherwise, south-southwest is around knee high out of the south-southwest.

Screen Shot 2015-12-06 at 8.08.31 PMOur current northwest swell is expected to continue fading today. A new storm is brewing in the northwest Pacific and is forecast to bring another large swell building Tuesday, peaking in the evening into early Wednesday morning.

Our current south-southwest is mainly leftovers today.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
