HCF Names New Leadership Under Restructuring
Hawai’i Community foundation recently announced that it plans to restructure the organization of the foundation to service the community in the future.
“In preparation for HCF’s centennial, the Board focused on setting up strategies for the Foundation to broaden its leadership role in the State as it enters its second hundred years,” said HCF Board Chair Debbie Berger. “The expansion of the executive leadership team supports this vision and allows HCF to be more responsive to both donors and the community.”
In the restructuring, the foundation will bring in Micah A. Kane in January. Kane will fulfill the newly formed President and Chief Operating Officer position within HCF. In his role, he will lead the foundation’s executive team.
Chris van Bergeijk, HCF’s recent Chief Operating Officer, will lead a newly formed Strategic Initiatives and Networks Group. The group will focus on the critical goals for advancing HCF’s major long-term initiatives, knowledge strategy, and networks.
“In the future, HCF can play a pivotal role in bringing private sector, government and community leaders together with philanthropists to fashion shared strategies to address some of our most intractable issues,” said Kelvin Taketa, HCF’s Chief Executive Officer. “Coupled with the experience and knowledge we have gained over the years, we can help those who give amplify the power of their giving and help organizations achieve even greater results while providing a platform for innovation.”
Kane is joining HCF after leaving Pacific Links International, where he served as COO.
“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to work more closely with the Hawai’i Community Foundation in its community mission to enhance the lives of those in need. It’s a personal privilege to join this talented executive team as HCF begins its next 100 years of service to our community,” said Kane.
