Looking Ahead
Breezy east-northeast trade winds are in place through the weekend. Showers will continue to focus across windward and mauka areas, but the strong winds will allow the showers to make it into leeward areas from time to time. The trades are forecast to weaken next week as a cold front approaches from the west and stalls out west of Kauai. Increased showers are expected during the middle to latter part of next week, increasing rain chances and humidity levels across the island chain.
Today
Today partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected with showers likely for windward and mauka spots. The Kona side is expected to be partly sunny to start and mostly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers. High temperatures from 82° to 87°. Northeast winds are forecast from 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
UV index at 7 (“high” exposure level)
Tonight
Northeast winds are expected in the evening from 15 to 30 mph. Low temperatures from 67° to 73°. Mostly cloudy skies are expected in the evening with frequent showers for windward spots. Leeward spots should be partly cloudy with isolated showers and clearing as the night goes on.
