Thanksgiving Food Drive Underway at KCH
Hospital staff at Kona Community Hospital will join together with The Food Basket, Hawai’i Island’s Food Bank to create baskets of donated food for families in Big Island communities with the 2015 Thanksgiving Food Drive, under the mantra “No one should go hungry at Thanksgiving.”
The drive kicked off on Sunday and will last through Nov. 15. Items for Thanksgiving dinner, including canned fruits and vegetables, gravy, stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, canned meats, boxed desserts, and rice, will all be accepted.
Drop-off locations include:
KCH Administration Building entrance, across from the Emergency Department.
Ali’i Health Center in the Keauhou Shopping Center in the General Surgery and Obstetrics Departments, located in suites 422 and 411.
West Hawai’i Community Health Center, located at 75-5751 Kuakini Highway, suite 104.
Once the baskets are made, The Food Basket, along with its community partners, will distribute the food to Big Island families.
“We’re very excited about this holiday food drive,” said Lisa Downing, Employee Health Nurse. “As a community hospital, we feel a strong calling to give back to our community.”
