Parker Ranch 53rd Annual July 4th Rodeo
Parker Ranch will celebrate the fourth of July with its paniolo heritage at the 53rd Annual July 4th Rodeo and Horse Races at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena in Waimea.
Big Island paniolos from local ranches will join together beginning at 9 a.m. to celebrate the nation’s independence and traditional rodeo events, including horse races, mugging, team roping, and more. The day will begin with a grand entry parade and continue non-stop until 12 p.m.
Horse races will include the fourth-mile, eighth-mile, and relay races. The rodeo will also include skills and pride events, like Po’o Wai U, Ranch Mugging, and Team Roping. Skills and pride events provide the opportunity for modern-day paniolos to showcase their skills.
Beyond the arena and the action-packed events, the rodeo will provide attendees with the opportunity to enjoy activities that span from local food trucks to keiki activities, including pony rides and a petting zoo.
In addition to festivities, Parker Ranch will recognize Gwen Ahana for her community service and volunteer work. Each year, Parker Ranch celebrates an individual or group who has contributions to the community. This year, Ahana will be celebrated for her efforts with Habitat for Humanity in Kuhio Village, where she helped to revitalize the neighborhood while inspiring others to share their aloha.
Tickets for the event cost $7 in advance or $10 at the gate. Children 12 and under are free.
