Bacardi Bash will Benefit Kohala Hospital

Bacardi U.S.A. and Young’s Market Co. of Hawai’i will present the 2nd Annual Bacardi Bash. The two-day event will bring together some of the Big Island’s best chefs and mixologists for both a friendly competition and a benefit for the Kohala Hospital.

Festivities will begin on Friday, April 10 at the Hau Tree Restaurant with a meet and greet reception, followed by the main competition on Saturday, April 11 at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s Luau Grounds.

The Saturday event will bring together chefs and mixologists to create a food and cocktail pairings that will be served to guests. From there, guests will award the winning food and drink pairings in two categories: “People’s Choice Award” and “Critic’s Choice Award.” Defending champion in both categories, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel Beverage Manager Raymond Kanehailua, will act as a mentor for competitors.

“Following last year’s successful event, we are thrilled to once again host this fun event that showcases Hawai’i Island’s culinary and cocktail talents,” said Donn Takahashi, general manager at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. “Best of all, we’re coming together to support the Kohala Hospital, ensuring they have the equipment they need to better service the Kohala community.”

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel brings a twist for its 50th anniversary to their signature Fredrico cocktail. A special cocktail, “Fredrica,” will debut during the event. The new beverage infuses coconut rum and syrup and ties in a blend of tropical juices, mint, and the Fredrico’s distinctive ingredient, Jack Daniels.
