A High Wind Warning is posted for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa through 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. West winds from 60 to 80 mph are expected with higher gusts. High winds make driving dangerous. Please delay travel to the summit areas until the wind subsides.
A Small Craft Advisory is posted for most Big Island waters (except right off of South Point) through 6:00 p.m. Wednesday for southwest winds of 20 to 30 knots and rough seas up to 16 feet.
A High Surf Advisory is posted from 6:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. Surf from 8 to 10 feet is expected along west facing shores. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

A front is currently affecting the Hawaiian Islands. Rainfall along the front is expected to impact the Big Island Tuesday afternoon. Expect gusty west winds behind the front to bring drier conditions with cooler than normal nighttime temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
