A High Surf Advisory is posted through 6:00 p.m. Sunday for west side of the Big Island. Surf from 6 to 10 feet is expected. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

A Small Craft Advisory is posted for the Alenuihaha Channel through 6:00 a.m. Sunday for rough seas up to 13 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Partly cloudy skies are expected today. Light east winds are also expected from 5 to 15 mph. As the land heats up, sea breezes are expected to develop which will lead to afternoon cloud cover and possible isolated showers. Hazy skies are expected for parts of the Big Island (see UHSOEST vog model above), although it is not expected to be as hazy as the last few days. High temperatures should fall in the range of 81° to 86°.

Partly cloudy skies and the possibility of isolated afternoon showers are expected today with east winds up to 15 mph. Hazy skies are again in the forecast with land and sea breeze patterns setting up for the Big Island. Highs from 82° to 87° and lows from 64° to 70°.

Looking Ahead 

A ridge building northeast of the islands will produce light winds and mostly dry weather through the middle of next week. Unusually large surf is expected starting mid-week. A front is expected to reach Kauai next Friday and push down past the Big Island. This front may bring heavy showers.
