Mauna Kea Beach Hotel Receives Spot on Gold List
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel has been named as one of 100 favorite hotels in the world by the Condé Nast Traveler’s 2015 Gold List, which is comprised of the magazine editors’ favorite hotels in the world.
The resort, who will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2015, is one of only three Hawai’i hotels that was named on the list and is the only Big Island hotel represented.
To be published in the January edition of the magazine, the Gold List was reinvented by editors, writers, and network influencers by answering the question, “what are your favorite hotels in the world?”
“We’re thrilled to be recognized by the well-traveled editors of Condé Nast Traveler who are truly experts in their field,” said Phyllis Branco, hotel manager at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. “Being included in the highly curated Gold List is particularly timely and meaningful as we look forward to celebrating out golden anniversary and reflecting on the truly distinctive guest experience that make this hotel so special.”
High standard of servie, luxury, and beauty are necessities for the recognition as a Gold List property, however, unforgettable special touches that being the hotel’s ethos to life are also considered.
“Like travel itself, the best hotel experiences often can’t be measured by a point system – they’re as ineffable as memory itself,” said Editor in Chief of Condé Nast Traveler, Pilar Guzmán.
In 2014, the resort was honored with recognition in Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 25 Resorts in Hawai’i: Readers’ Choice Awards.
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2015.
The resort was founded by venture capitalist and passionate conservationist Laurence S. Rockefeller in 1965 and was the first resort built on the Kohala Coast.
Anniversary festivities began in early December with the 41st annual Mauna Kea Pro-Am and plan on continuing into 2015. On the slate are a “50 Acts of Aloha” giving campaign, special promotions – including a $50,000 Golden Anniversary package – themed displays and unique dining experiences. A grand celebration to top it all off is scheduled for July 24, 2015.
