HPD Investigating Two Kona Robberies

Two home invasion robberies that occurred on the 73-1200 block of Hiolani Street in Kailua-Kona are being investigated by the Hawai’i Police Department.

Both cases occurred in the evening hours, where an unknown man pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded cash.

At 7:35 p.m. on Nov. 2, the first incident occurred. A 72-year-old man reported that the suspect entered his house and pointed a gun at him. The suspect then demanded cash and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and two cell phones.

A second incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. on Nov. 12. Two women, ages 69 and 72, were the victims. It was reported that they heard a noise in the living room, where they then found the suspect. He pointed a handgun at them and demanded cash and telephones. He then fled from the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, two cell phones, and a landline handset.

The suspect was described by the women as Caucasian, thin, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 and wearing black clothing, including a black sweatshirt with an orange design on the front. He was also carrying a black backpack with white lettering on the right strap.
