Police Community Meeting June 17 in Waimea
The Hawaiʻi Police Department is inviting South Kohala residents to a community meeting on Tuesday, June 17, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Hawaiian Homes hall in Waimea.
Residents will have the opportunity to meet the police department’s command staff and discuss concerns with the police chief and commanders who oversee operations in their district.
The South Kohala event continues the department’s program of community meetings, which are rotated throughout the eight police districts on the Big Island.
To aid police commanders in focusing on specific community concerns, they ask that participation in this meeting be limited to persons who live or work in the South Kohala District.
Anyone interested in participating but is unable to attend may call Maj. Mitchell Kanehailua at 326-4646, ext. 270, stop by the South Kohala police station in Waimea, or e-mail their concerns or comments to
