County Leaders to Address Kona-Kohala Chamber

Mayor Billy Kenoi and members of his cabinet will discuss Hawaii County issues later this month at the annual Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce 2014 Focus Luncheon.

The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

Sponsored by the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union, the luncheon provides an opportunity for the local community to meet county leaders in a casual setting.

Chamber President and CEO Vivian Landrum said attendees will have the opportunity to have lunch with specific department representatives and to pose questions to the mayor and select cabinet members.

Likely topics of discussion include the state general excise tax and the county’s possible involvement, the county’s solid waste management plan, GMO regulation and the quest to reopen the Kona International Airport’s international arrivals facility.

Cost for the luncheon is $45 for Chamber and Rotary members and $55 for non-members.
