Kona Man Held on $184,000 Bail For 15 Offenses
A Captain Cook man is being held in lieu of $184,000 bail after being charged with 15 offenses.
Police said the charges resulted from an investigation into the theft of a truck in October.
The 2011 Toyota Tacoma pickup was stolen while parked along Mamalahoa in Captain Cook was reported on Oct. 21.
The truck was found by police Jan. 3 in a parking lot in Kealakekua.
Police using a search warrant found eight grams of crystal methamphetamine in the truck along with a glass pipe with residue and a loaded handgun.
The investigation also led police to 32-year-old Joshua Watan, who was arrested on Tuesday.
Watan was charged today with vehicle theft, meth trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug, drug paraphernalia, five firearms offenses and five counts of violating terms of release on bail.
He was also charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class C felony, for allegedly making a threat to a law enforcement officer while in custody.
Watan remained in the Kona cellblock pending an initial court appearance.
