Essential water use only notice replaced with water restriction notice for several Kaʻū communities
Effective immediately, the Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply notifies the public that an essential water use only notice previously in effect for several locations in Kaʻū was replaced with a water restriction notice for all Water Supply customers in affected areas.
Those communities are:
- Nāʻālehu.
- Waiʻōhinu.
- Discovery Harbour.
- Mark Twain Subdivision.
- Green Sands Subdivision.
- South Point Road area.
A water restriction notice requires affected customers to reduce water use by at least 25%.
Water restriction measures are necessary to maintain adequate water levels in storage tanks while the Department of Water Supply continues repairs to water infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Lala.
Customers are asked to use water wisely and not waste it.
