Black Rock Pizza in Kailua-Kona has reopened after the Hawaiʻi Department of Health determined the restaurant has completed all required corrective actions following a recent health inspection that led to its temporary closure.

The state Food Safety Branch authorized the reopening and issued the restaurant a green “pass” placard during a second follow-up inspection conducted on Monday.

The restaurant received a red placard on July 8 after inspectors identified violations requiring immediate corrective action.

According to the health department, the restaurant was required to discard contaminated food products, have a licensed pest control operator service the establishment and submit a report to the department, seal holes in walls and ceilings, and thoroughly clean and disinfect both food-contact and non-food-contact surfaces.

During Monday’s inspection, inspectors determined all required corrective actions had been completed, allowing the restaurant to resume operations.
