Hawai‘i Island police renew request for help finding man last seen nearly 3 years ago

Hawai’i Island police are renewing their request for any information regarding the disappearance of a man from Pāhoa who was last seen nearly 3 years ago.

Kelly Gravitt

Kelly Gravitt, 37, was last seen between May 12 and May 14, 2023, in the area of Pāhoa. He is a combat-wounded Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient.

He is Caucasian, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes, and a thick auburn beard. Gravitt has numerous tattoos and distinct scars on his lower legs from prior injuries.

Gravitt was known to frequent Kalapana, specifically the Sea View lawn, Kahena Beach, and Uncle Roberts area, according to Hawai‘i Island police.

Hawai‘i Police Department personnel have conducted countless interviews, numerous follow-ups, and continue to investigate Gravitt’s 2023 disappearance actively.

“His family is deeply concerned for his well-being and politely requests that any information about Gravitt be forwarded to investigators,” police stated in a news release on Tuesday, May 5.

Police ask anyone who may have information relative to the disappearance of Kelly Gravitt to call the police department’s non-emergency number at 808-935-3311, Detective Sybastian Keltner of the Area I Criminal Investigation Section Unsolved Homicides and Missing Persons Unit at 808-961-2326, or the Federal Bureau of Investigation Honolulu Field Office at 808-566-4300.
