Update at 11:22 a.m. on March 23: The ground stop for Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole has been lifted.

Update at 11:03 a.m. on March 23: Hawaiian Electric reports all but five customers in the Kealakehe and Hōlualoa areas have had their power restored.

Original post: Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole is under a ground stop due to lightning. All ground crew have been pulled off the ramp area.

Thunderstorms are moving through Kona and Kohala Districts as a Kona low storm system passes Hawai‘i Island. The storm has knocked out power for approximately 1,394 Hawaiian Electric customers in the Hōlualoa and Kealakehe areas.
