The Laupāhoehoe Recycling and Transfer Station will reopen Friday following the completion of a $2.57 million improvement project.

Performed by Isemoto Contracting, the project involved installing a new chute with a canopy, repaving, replacement of the retaining wall, installation of a concrete swale and water retention system, and a new concrete pad, according to a news release from Hawai‘i County.

The transfer station was closed for about 10 months while the improvements were made.
