Young Brothers’ barge arrival at Port of Kawaihae delayed Tuesday due to high winds

Young Brother’s barge the Haʻaheo that was scheduled to arrive at the Port of Kawaihae on the Big Island on Tuesday morning was delayed due to severe ocean conditions caused by near-gale force winds, the company said. 

For customer convenience, the port will have extended gate hours Tuesday until 5 p.m. for the pick up of straightload containers only. 

Cargo availability is as follows:  

  • Dry and refrigerated straightload containers:  Upon notification 
  • Refrigerated palletized and loose cargo:  Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 8 a.m. 
  • Dry palletized and mixed cargo:  Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 a.m. 
  • Vehicles and roll-on roll-off cargo:  Upon notification
