Police thank participants of Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League Cleanup and Fun Day in Hōnaunau
Hawaiʻi Police Department Kona Community Policing Section sends out a special shoutout to those who helped make the 2026 Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League Community Cleanup and Fun Day in Hōnaunau a great success.

About 60 volunteers took part in the cleanup along Keala O Keawe Road, collecting about 15 bags of trash that resulted in a noticeable improvement to the area.
Participants gathered at Hōnaunau Rodeo Arena following the cleanup for a community Fun Day celebration that included live entertainment, raffle prizes and a light lunch.
The event provided an opportunity for community members, families and officers to connect and celebrate their shared efforts, highlighting the strong partnership between Kona Community Policing officers and the community they serve.
Live entertainment featured the 2025 Kona Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League Youth Music Showcase winners Nā Leo Kū, who performed several songs including their single “Kona Embrace,” which was released Dec. 26, 2025.
Also performing were 2025 Kona Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League Youth Music Showcase top performers London West and Lily Malapit, along with special guest performances by Grammy-nominated LT Smooth and Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Kenny Tagavilla.
Police thanked Miss Orchid Isle’s Teen Diamond Kawaʻauhau, all participants and all the volunteers, who dedicated their time and energy to the cleanup effort.
They also extended their appreciation to the performers who helped make the Fun Day event a success.
Additional thanks go to Kailua-Kona McDonald’s for donating breakfast sandwiches and ice; Bryan Fujikawa, owner of Kona Grill House Catering, for providing lunch; and KBXtreme, Body Glove, Kuleana Rum Works and Mohala Koʻlective Beauty for their generous raffle prize donations.
