Detour in effect on Kawaihae Road for utility repairs following traffic collision

The Hawai‘i Police Department has announced a detour on South Kohala, on Hawaii Belt Road and Kawaihae Road, near mile marker 60.5, due to ongoing repairs.
Crews are working to replace utility poles and lines damaged in a recent traffic collision.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and follow the detour route, as repair work is expected to continue for several hours. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and stay alert while passing through the affected area.
