Families are invited to enjoy trick-or-treating, animal encounters, games, food vendors and a keiki costume contest — all set within the magical ambiance of the rainforest — at the third “Boo in the Zoo.”

The two-day event runs from 3 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 25 and 26 at at Panaʻewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens in Hilo.

Admission is free, but attendees must purchase a $1 FOZ trick-or-treat bag to collect goodies. All proceeds support zoo improvements.

Gates will close to the general public at 2 p.m. each event day for setup. While there will be no petting zoo on Saturday, organizers promise a festive and safe celebration for the whole ʻohana.
