Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Big Island during the week of Sept. 29 to Oct. 3.

HIGHWAY 11
KEAʻAU
SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 5 to 7.5, in the vicinity of Ikaika Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 for mulching and shoulder work.
KEAUHOU
SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 113.5 to 116.5, in the vicinity of Daifukuji Buddhist Temple, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, striping and pavement markers.
NĀʻĀLEHU
SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 60 and 71, in the vicinity of Kahuku Ranch Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.
SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 65 to 67, in the vicinity of Kaalualu Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 for cutting grass.
VOLCANO
SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 27.5 and 28.5, in the vicinity of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and Old Volcano Road, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 for Hawaiian Electric to install new power line poles.
SHOULDER CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 30 and 31, at the entrance to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25-29 for paving. Mauna Loa Road will be used as an exit for the park during this closure.
HIGHWAY 19
HAKALAU
SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 15.1 to 15.6, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday Sept. 29 and Friday, Oct. 3 for installation of construction signs for work on Hakalau Bridge. Details can be found here.

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 9 to 9.2, in the vicinity of Old Onomea Road, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 for maintaining Kawainui bridge.

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 to Friday, Oct. 3 for striping of lane lines, turn pockets and direction arrows.
