New playground equipment coming to Captain Cook park
Work to redevelop the playground at Arthur L. Greenwell Park in Captain Cook begins today.

The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation project will remove the existing playground and replace it with new playground equipment, a synthetic turf safety surfacing system, and reconfigured accessible walkways.
The redesigned playground will feature climbing structures, a basket swing, and benches similar to those found at Kamehameha Park and the Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area.
The project is expected to take approximately five months to complete and will result in a playground that meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
The playground area will be closed during construction, and the public is asked to observe posted safety notices and closures throughout the project.
