Water restrictions for North Kohala customers, in place for just over a week, were lifted.

The Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply issued the restriction initially on Aug. 4 after Hawī well #2 went down. Customers at the time were initially advised to conserve water, but it escalated to an advisory of “essential needs only.”

The well has since been repaired, and county officials lifted all restrictions on Tuesday afternoon.

Normal water use may resume, however, the Department of Water Supply urges customers to continue to be wise with their water and not waste it.
