Hawaiʻi Island police responded to a report of a possible unexploded ordnance found in a culvert on Old Saddle Road.

The container or shell, designed to hold two pounds of propellant charge for use in specific military guns, was found near mile marker 44. According to a police press release, the item appeared to have been deliberately placed there, but also seemed to have been in the area for some time.
