Wind advisory in place for Big Island summits

A wind advisory is in place for Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea summits on Hawai‘i Island till Wednesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, west winds will be blowing 40 to 50 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph.

Winds this strong can make driving and walking dangerous. The winds can forcefully open doors and damage hinges or slam doors shut, possibly causing injuries.
