No injuries reported following structure fire in South Kona

No injuries were reported after an abandoned home in South Kona was damaged in a fire.

Hawai‘i Island firefighters responded to the blaze on the 84-4800 block of Keala O Keawe Road at 5:53 a.m. When they arrived scene, crews found the 1,000-square-foot single-story dwelling with a wooden frame and metal roof approximately 40% involved with fire.

Firefighters attacked the flames offensively with two preconnect 1-inch and 3/4 water lines. The fire was under control within 15 minutes and was out by 6:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
