Roll up your sleeves and save lives: Donate at upcoming Blood Bank of Hawai‘i Hilo drive
It’s time to roll up your sleeves and save lives, Big Island.
Blood Bank of Hawai‘i will be in Hilo from May 13-15 for a 3-day blood drive at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Big Island community members are invited and encouraged to make an appointment and contribute to Hawai‘i’s ongoing blood supply needs. Drive times are:
- 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 13.
- 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 14.
- 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 15.
Blood Bank of Hawai‘i was recently able to allocate additional staff to this drive and offer more appointments because of the Hilo community’s outpouring of support.
Without such community buy-in, drives such as this week’s would not be possible.
“The participation of local donors statewide is essential in ensuring that Hawai‘i maintains a steady supply of blood,” said the announcement about this week’s Hilo blood drive from the nonprofit founded in 1941 that is committed to providing a safe and reliable supply of blood, blood products and related transfusion services to Hawai‘i’s patients.
Blood Bank of Hawai’i hosts drives three times a year on Maui, Kaua‘i and the Big Island in Kona and Hilo to ensure residents statewide have the opportunity to donate.
The next drive in Hilo will be in September.
Hawai‘i’s unique island geography makes maintaining a stable blood supply even more critical. By participating in this blood drive, donors directly impact the lives of those facing medical emergencies.
