North Kona water customers are reminded that a water conservation notice for both residential and commercial accounts remains in effect.

Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply is asking customers to voluntarily reduce their water use by 10% to help the department maintain an adequate water supply and pressure as the county crews address issues with electrical equipment and the water supply is being redistributed.

Communities impacted include Mākālei, Kalaoa, Kona Palisades, Keāhole, Palamanui, Kohanaiki, Kailua-Kona, Kaloko, Kaloko Mauka, Hualālai, Honokōhau, Kealakehe, Keahuolū, Keōpū, Hōlualoa, Wai‘aha, Kahalu‘u and Keauhou.

Status updates will be issued as necessary and made available at www.hawaiidws.org. The county provides the following steps on how to conserve water:

  • Wash only full loads of laundry and dishes
  • Check faucets and pipes for leaks
  • Do not let water run when washing hands, shaving, or brushing teeth
  • Reduce showering times
