A water conservation notice has been issued for portions of South Kohala because of the prolonged lack of rainfall and issues with the Waimea well.

Hawai‘i County’s Department of Water Supply is asking customers to reduce their water use by at least 10%. Affected areas are from Āhualoa to Waiemi Subdivision, including Pu‘ukapu, Nienie, Waimea Town, Lālāmilo farm lots, portions of Mana Road, portions of Māmalahoa Highway, Anekona Estates and Kānehoa Subdivision.

Customers are advised to wash only full loads of laundry and dishes, check faucets and pipes for leaks, don’t let water run when washing hands, shaving or brushing teeth and reduce shower times.

County officials also advise affected customers to limit water use for dust control and irrigation. Click here for more tips on how to conserve water.
