Honoka‘a motorcyclist killed in Waikōloa crash
A 45-year-old Honoka‘a man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding struck another vehicle Friday night on a Waikōloa roadway.
Hawai‘i Police Department officers responded at 9:16 p.m. to the crash.
David Franklin Roland was driving a gray 2006 Honda VTX1300C east in the westbound bicycle lane near the 2-mile marker of Waikōloa Road (Highway 19) when he sideswiped a gray 2023 Jeep Wrangler SUV that was heading west.
Roland was pronounced dead at 9:33 p.m. at the scene.
The 45-year-old man driving the Jeep and a 43-year-old woman passenger were uninjured.
A coroner’s inquest investigation is underway by the Hawai‘i Police Department Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit.
