Hawai‘i Island police looking for witnesses to road rage incident over the weekend
Authorities are investigating a road rage incident in Ocean View on Sunday that resulted in a fight between two men.
According to Hawai‘i Island police, Ka‘ū patrol officers responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a White Toyota 4Runner and a Silver Ford SUV, near the entrance of the Kona Gardens subdivision at 9:20 a.m.
Following the crash, two men fought and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
One of the men went to the Kona Community Hospital for treatment and was released, and the other refused medical treatment.
“Due to both parties giving conflicting statements, investigating officers are still trying to determine the chain of events that led up to the incident,” police stated in a press release Tuesday morning. “Police believe that the incident occurred on Highway 11 and that prior to the incident, one of the involved parties may have been driving recklessly.”
