Hawaiʻi County hiring summer lifeguards for swimming pools

Applications are now being accepted for summer lifeguards at Hawai‘i County swimming pools.

Lifeguards are hired on a temporary basis annually in support of expanded swimming lesson programs during the summer. The contract period is May 22 through Aug. 4, and the positions offer flexible scheduling.

Pay was increased to $20 per hour this year.

Deadline to apply is March 31.

Applicants must be 18 years old with current lifeguarding certification. They must also successfully have completed a swimming and skills test.

Potential applicants without lifeguarding certification can take part in the certification course March 17-21 the Pāhoa Community Aquatic Center.
