A high surf advisory was issued for north-facing shores of the Big Island till Tuesday at 6 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, a moderate to large north-northeast (10-30 degrees) swell will peak today, then gradually diminish through Wednesday as advisory conditions are expected for north-facing shores of most islands through tonight.

Large surf of up to 16 feet is expected with strong breaking waves and strong currents that will make swimming dangerous.
