Registration open for lifeguard certification course in Pāhoa

Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation opened registration for a weeklong American Red Cross lifeguard certification course at Pāhoa Community Aquatic Center.

The course, which includes deepwater training, is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 17-21, and coincides with spring break for Hawai‘i Department of Education schools and facilities.

Participants who successfully complete the class will gain essential lifesaving skills and earn credentials that could lead to future job opportunities.

The course is open to people who will be 15 years old on or before the final class session March 21. Cost is $122, which is payable by cash in the exact amount at the first class.
