Celebrate the season with the family in a Waikōloa Winter Wonderland
Yes, Virginia, it does snow in Hawai‘i. And now, not just on top of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island and Haleakalā on Maui.
Twice a night on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 21 and on one Monday before Christmas, Dec. 23, the forecast calls for snow shows that transform part of the Kohala Coast on Hawai‘i Island into a Waikōloa Winter Wonderland.
Kings’ Shops on Thursday night debuted its magical holiday celebration complete with falling snow choreographed to festive music and theatrical lighting with entertainment, special performances and other activities in between.
The holiday festivities blend traditional holiday magic with Hawai‘i’s warm aloha spirit.
Snow falls at 6 and 7 p.m. on each night, with shows running 7 to 10 minutes. Pre-show fun starts at 5 p.m. on snow show nights.
An unforgettable Fire & Ice grand finale is planned for Dec. 23, featuring fire dancers performing while snowflakes swirl around them.
Waikōloa Winter Wonderland promises to enchant guests of all ages. Santa will even be popping up at a few shows! Follow Kings’ Shops on social media to find out when.
To make it even more fun for youngsters, holiday wands sponsored by Waikōloa Beach Resort will be given to the first 25 registered keiki each night.
RSVP your kids online for a chance to get a wand, while supplies last.
And if it gets a bit too chilly for you and the family while the snow is falling, enjoy some hot cocoa by Island Vintage Coffee.
Each night’s snow show will feature a different theme, with the first Thursday night highlighting a traditional Christmas.
John Keawe and the Kona Aloha Singers performed live music and Santa made his first visit, much to the delight of keiki who attended. Activities and photo opportunities followed.
