Police seek fraud suspect after multiple purchases made on lost credit card

Big Island police are seeking information about fraud that happened in August at several Kailua-Kona retailers and a suspect caught by a surveillance camera.

Hawai‘i Police Department received a report the morning of Aug. 16 from someone who their credit card at a Big Box store in Hilo and shortly thereafter began receiving fraud alerts from their bank regarding purchases made at multiple stores in the Kailua-Kona area.

Police have been reviewing video surveillance footage gathered from the different stores, matching it to the times of the reported purchases.

A person linked to one or more of these transactions was captured on video surveillance and is shown wearing a green-T-shirt, dark-colored shorts, dark sunglasses and a light-colored visor.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact South Hilo Patrol Officer Sheldon Adviento on the department’s non-emergency number at 808-935-3311 or by email at sheldon.adviento@hawaiicounty.gov.
