There’s a man out there who recently snagged himself a quality speargun that at least one online reviewer says is great for reef hunting and spearfishing in Kona’s crystal clear waters.

If you see him, be sure to let Big Island police know.

He didn’t come about the top-of-the-line fishing implement in a legal way. Instead, the unknown man in the photos accompanying this story picked up speargun via his own 5-finger discount.

Police are investigating the theft that occurred Sept. 18 at a store in the 74-5500 block of Luhia Street in Kailua-Kona and need your identifying the man who helped himeslef to the nice new speargun.

The store reported the theft at just after 10 a.m. after the unknown man removed the blue camouflaged C4 Gladius 105cm speargun from the store’s shelves, walked past open registers and left without paying for it.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Hawai‘i Police Department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311 or email Officer Charles Caldwell-Ka‘ai at Charles.Caldwell@hawaiicounty.gov.
